The Pink Hummer (Julie Newell) and Baja Turtle (Ken Kosioreks) trip to the SCORE Baja 500 in June was a great success. We had 7 kids from the Castro Limon Cancer center for children with us and what a great time they had.

It was Saturday morning, June 6th and we pulled into contingency for the Baja 500. We were with General Tire and Baja Pits. The Castro Limon cancer clinic for children, located in Tijuana, had 7 children that planned to join us for the day. Castro Limon set up a booth and had pictures of many little patients they have and we spent the day promoting awareness and education. By the end of the day, many people learned about the center and many racers ( thank you to all ) purchased the official Baja map in which part of the proceeds went to the cancer center. We have many people from the community willing to volunteer and help any way they can and learned about the clinic for the first time. In addition to this, we sent out many packets of goodies for kids to two pits.( i think they went to pit 6 and 8) Each of these packets had education pamphlets both in English and Spanish. Our goal for this was to reach the remote areas for awareness. All in all it was a great weekend. Not to mention that Ken, the baja turtle rode his bike from San Diego to Ensenada, stood all day at contingency, Rode solo the 500 and finished in less than 18 hours. He does this for the kids, for awareness.. NEVER GIVE UP..
